Wine & Liqueurliqueur

St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur

Introduced to market in 2007 by Rob Cooper. Almost overnight became the most talked-about new liqueur in craft cocktail culture. The 'bartender's ketchup' nickname (2010s) reflected both its ubiquity and the backlash — it went on everything. The elderflower node was technically accessible before 2007 (other elderflower products existed) but St-Germain made it easy, consistent, and at the right proof for cocktail use. The node was there; St-Germain made it a reflex.

Flavor Profile

Floral-Aromatic and Honey-Mead — 'a perfumed sweetness that smooths rough edges and adds aromatic lift.' The Floral-Aromatic node is the lead, with a gentle honey sweetness supporting. Extremely approachable.
