Papalote Mezcal (Cupreata variant)

Papalote's status as either a distinct variety or a Cupreata variant is debated among botanists and mezcaleros. The commercial distinction emerged as export bottlers sought to describe meaningfully different flavor profiles from what was labeled the same agave species.

Flavor Profile

Sweeter, fruitier, lighter than standard Cupreata — cooked pineapple, mango, bright citrus acidity, almost candy-like immediacy. Less mineral than standard Cupreata. Light body, clean quick finish.
