Gingenever
Korenwijn
The most traditional and grain-forward genever style, Korenwijn ('grain wine') represents the direct descendant of the earliest Dutch distilling, before juniper and botanicals were the focus. The style nearly disappeared in the 20th century but has been revived by craft producers.
Flavor Profile
Rich, complex, deeply grain-forward. Has almost fully crossed the border into whiskey territory. Vanilla and spice from wood aging (when aged). Dense, oily mouthfeel. Juniper present but functionally a background note against the powerful malt spirit foundation.
