Islay Single Malt

Islay's vast peat bogs — formed over millennia from compressed moss and heather — provide the distinctive fuel that defines the island's whisky. The peat bogs were deposited while Vikings raided and monks copied manuscripts. When tasting Islay smoke, you're tasting geology. The island's distilling heritage dates to the late 18th century.

Flavor Profile

Iodine, seaweed, campfire smoke, medicinal phenolics, briny maritime character. The most polarizing whisky region. PPM ranges: Laphroaig ~40, Ardbeg ~55, Octomore 100-309. Lagavulin 16 is the 'gentle' Islay option. Bruichladdich Classic Laddie is unpeated — unpeated Islay exists.
