RumRum
Dark / Black / Navy Rum
Dark rum's commercial profile developed from Navy rum tradition in the 17th-19th centuries, when British Royal Navy bulk-procured heavily aged Jamaican and Barbadian rum for the daily sailor tot. The darkest, most robust styles survived long ocean voyages better.
Flavor Profile
Chocolate-Roast, Spice-Warm, molasses-heavy, dark dried fruit, treacle, espresso, toffee. Finish is long, dark, sometimes slightly bitter. Myers's Dark is molasses-forward Jamaican blend; Goslings Black Seal is barrel-aged blend with heavy caramel.
