Whiskeywhisky

Canadian Whisky

Canadian whisky developed its blended structure during Prohibition, when Canadian distillers supplied American bootleggers and developed smooth, light expressions that appealed to the American palate. The 'rye' label is historical — many Canadian whiskies labeled 'rye' contain primarily corn.

Flavor Profile

Light, smooth, vanilla-forward. The base whisky provides volume and smoothness. The flavoring whisky provides personality — spice, fruit, complexity. More varied than reputation suggests: Crown Royal Standard is mild, Alberta Premium Cask Strength is 100% rye and assertive.
