Campbeltown Single Malt
Campbeltown was once Scotland's whisky capital with over 30 distilleries in the 19th century — now down to three. The industry collapsed due to a combination of Prohibition (eliminating US export market), overproduction, and the rise of Speyside Scotch. The peninsula's remoteness has preserved traditional production methods.
Flavor Profile
Complex, briny, oily, full-bodied. Maritime character from the peninsula's geography. Some peat smoke, some fruit, distinctive oiliness. Springbank is described as a flavor profile that doesn't fit neatly into any other region's character.
