Tasting Notes

Bitter orange peel, rhum agricole funk, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, cane sugar, dried citrus, Caribbean spice. The agricole base adds grassy, vegetal notes beneath the orange — fundamentally different from neutral-spirit-based triple sec. Complex, spiced, estate character.

Brand Guide

Primary: Rhum Clément Créole Shrubb ($25-30) — the benchmark, estate-produced since the 1800s. Alternative: JM Shrubb ($25-30, another Martinican producer). The category is essentially Martinican — few non-island producers make authentic Shrubb. For substitute: Grand Marnier (cognac-based orange) or Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao (different but premium).
