Crème de Cassis
CoreBurgundy / France (Dijon), Loire Valley / France
ABV15-20%. Most at 16-20%. Low proof — this is essentially a blackcurrant cordial with alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Blackcurrant, dark berry jam, tart grape, plum, cassis leaf (in quality versions), heavy sweetness, slight astringency. Good cassis has a tartness that balances the sugar. Bad cassis is just sticky-sweet purple syrup. Taste your well bottle and know which you're working with.
