Morello cherry, sweet cherry, marzipan, almond, cherry pit, mineral, slight earthiness. Black Forest versions tend earthier and more rustic than Alsatian kirsch. The cherry varieties in Baden are different, producing a slightly darker, more robust fruit character. Traditional production includes the pits.
